The high percentage of Pinot Noir lends elegance and finesse with the Chardonnay contributing to weight, fruit and sheer refinement. We were all in agreement that this wine is far superior to the majority of "the highly" branded marques available.
Located at Ecueil, near Reims, Maillart Champagne has been passed down from father to son since 1720. Louis Octave Maillart, one of the ancestors of the present day owner, Nicolas, was one of the cofounders of the Champagne winegrowers syndicate, and one of the first to produce his own champagne. A unique feature of Maillart is the printing of a “disgorgement” date on the back label, allowing you an insight into the true craft of making great Champagne.
