John Busby
John Busby was born in Yorkshire in 1928. He studied at Leeds College of Art then at Edinburgh College of Art, gaining post-graduate and major travel Scholarships. In 1956 he joined the Drawing and Painting School staff at ECA and taught there until 1988. He was President of the SSA from 1976-79 And elected RSW in 1982, RSA in 1987, and full RSA in 2005.
A founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists he was External Assessor for Natural History Illlustration at the Royal College of Art 1989-92 and has taken part in several international ‘Artists for Nature’ projects, the last one in Israel in 2009. He has illustrated over 30 books on birds and other wildlife, and his own books include:- ‘ Birds in Mallorca’, ‘Nature Drawings’, ‘Drawing Birds’ (two editions) and ‘Land Marks & Sea Wings’.
