    .

The One to One Wine School will resume on Wednesday 14th October with the next WSET Intermediate Course. Hosted by our wine tutor, Julie Warner, at the shop on Bath Street, lessons will run weekly over a ten-week period.

Following a recognised Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) learning programme, the Inverarity One to One Wine School gives students the chance to attain the WSET Intermediate Certificate - an internationally recognised qualification that is accredited at Level 2 in the National Qualifications Framework. The course covers:

    - Tasting technique
    - Food and wine matching guide
    - Factors influencing wine styles
    - Major grape varieties
    - Key wine-producing regions of the world
    - Sparkling wines and Champagne
    - Spirits and liqueurs
    - Describing the characteristics of the principal wines of the world

It is the perfect course for the wine enthusiast who wants to step up a level in his/her knowledge of the wine world and costs £325 to complete. This fee includes all course materials, such as over 60 tasting wines! In return for all the hard work, we reward everyone who 'stays the course', right up to the exam, a free bottle of Champagne.

No previous knowledge or trade experience is required, just a willingness to learn. As a guide, we are recommending allotting one hour of study time to every two hours of course time.

What some of our first round students said about the course...

'I spent four years going to Wine Appreciation classes at night school, attended as many tastings as I could, collected every wine article that I could find and was giving tutored tastings but I still wasn't sure if I knew what I was talking about...until I spotted the WSET course run by Inverarity One to One - a course spread over ten evenings with a little reading required each week and an exam at the end of it. The course rattled along at a good pace and was extremely informative, as you would expect from the depth of knowledge possesed by the Inverarity team. It was great fun and I have to say, we tasted some superb wines on the way. Oh, and I passed. My certificate is now framed and has pride of place on the wall above my wine rack. Initially I thought the course was aimed at the trade but no, I would certainly recommend it to any enthusiastic wine drinker. The Inverarity One to One course has given me a breadth of knowledge that has helped me appreciate and enjoy wine much more so than before.'

"I found the WSET level two course to be very well-taught and presented in an interesting and enjoyable way. There was a wide and varied selection of wines to try, and it really introduced me to many varieties and styles I had not tried before. At the end of the course I felt my knowledge and understanding of wine styles, and in particular matching wines to food, had really improved. I feel much more confident in predicting which new wines I will enjoy."
